About the Event

We are delighted to invite all EU citizens, friends, allies and supporters to our  first Common Ground outreach event.

We will explore the concept of home, our values and belonging. We will reflect on what home means to us, what values we associate with it and how they affect our feeling of belonging - all done in a fun and creative way.

The event will be an excellent opportunity to get to know each other, network as well as to inform our planning for future events and online working groups. We hope to facilitate a safe and engaging space to share your experience and ideas as well to build connections for future collaborations.

Who is the event for?

This workshop is aimed at EU citizens, friends, allies and supporters living in Birmingham & the Midlands, who are looking for community.

You are welcome if you are an EU citizen, a person with EU connections, volunteer, staff or board member or trustee of an organisation and you are interested in finding Common Ground, coming together to highlight positive contributions that EU citizens make to UK society and fostering good relations between EU and British citizens.

Please register your attendance!

We will be serving vegetarian lunch and the venue is accessible but please do let us know if you have specific access or dietary requirements. We will be able to assist with travel expenses so please indicate if you’d like to avail of that and we’ll get in touch with the details & expenses policy.

Common Ground Project Background

Common Ground is a  project delivered in partnership by Fondazione Giacomo Brodolini, the3million  and British Future supporting communities of EU citizens in the UK to thrive. Co-funded by the European Union, our mission is to inspire more empowered EU communities in the UK by building connections, celebrating our shared European identity and sharing knowledge, with the aim of building a more positive relationship between the UK and the EU.

We have an ambitious goal to foster a positive relationship between the EU and the UK by means of celebrating our shared experiences and shared values and identifying opportunities for collaborations based on those values.

In practice, it means Common Grounds will be a platform for any person or organisation interested in working across divides to empower EU citizens to thrive in the UK and join a network of like minded people sharing knowledge, good practice and identifying opportunities for collective actions.

the3million will facilitate this network and equip you with tools to engage in meaningful conversations, collaborate and campaign. We have an exciting and varied programme of activities including local engagement events, workshops, online working groups, UK and international conferences as well as arts, journalism and twinning campaigns.
